In the eternal village of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate love, oblivion, and the inescapability of their past and destiny. This is the most expensive Netflix project made in Latin America to date, with Colombian groups and indigenous communities building props and sets for the series. Pure joy watching this Colombian cinematic marvel. The film adaptation exceeded my expectations and removed all fears about a possible disastrous attempt to make a decent film out of such a cold and “unfilmable” novel. It looks absolutely authentic and magical to my eyes. Bravo to the Colombian creators and the Colombian crew for such an attentive, careful, and delicate adaptation of one of the most beautiful novels ever written! The cinematographic work is outstanding and shows the beauty of Colombia very vividly. The costumes, the colonial architecture, the interior design of the buildings, and the carefully chosen music together portray an unforgettable atmosphere of Colombian magic in each and every detail.
